RVAsec is a Richmond, VA based security convention that brings top industry speakers to the midatlantic region. In its second year, RVAsec 2013 attracted 265 security professionals from across the country. For 2014, the conference is a two day and dual-track format, with a mixed focus on technical and management/business presentations.

All talks must be 55 minutes in length, and submissions will need to select either technical or business/management tracks.

June 5-6th, 2014
Richmond, VA, on the Virginia Commonwealth University campus


RVAsec is a Richmond, VA based security convention that brings top industry speakers to the midatlantic region. In its second year, RVAsec 2013 attracted 265 security professionals from across the country. For 2014, the conference is a two day and dual-track format, with a mixed focus on technical and management/business presentations.

All talks must be 55 minutes in length, and submissions will need to select from one of two tracks:

  • Business
  • Technical

 

The following types of presentations will not be accepted:

  • Sales or marketing for companies or products
  • CFP submissions from in-house or agency PR/marketing professionals
  • Talks which do not offer new insight or perspective

RVAsec will hold no copyright on presentation content, but all speakers will be required to provide approval to post slides and video recordings of the talk on the RVAsec or other web sites.

RVAsec 2014 – June 4-6

RVAsec 2014 will be held on Thursday and Friday, June 5th and 6th at the Commonwealth Ballroom at VCU’s University Commons. Training classes will be held on Wednesday, June 4th.

Once we sell out there will be no more tickets available.

Conference ticket prices and deadlines:

  • $250 early price until 2/28
  • $350 regular price until 5/1
  • $450 late registration until 5/31
  • $550 super late registration until 6/9 or until tickets sell out

Speaker Feature: Jeff Tehovnik

Jeff has been working in IT since 1998 and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University (BS-IS 2012, MS-CISS 2014) and the SANS Technology Institute (PGC Ethical Hacking & Penetration Testing). Jeff also enjoys research and educating on Technical Information Security Topics including Network Security Monitoring and Advanced Persistent Threats. In addition to recently passing the CCSP exam, Jeff holds the CISSP, GCIH, GPEN, GWAPT, GXPN and VMware NSX: Micro-Segmentation certificates.

When he’s not delving into the cloud, Jeff enjoys Reading, Fishing, and Vacationing at the beach with his wife and kids.  He is also an avid Hockey Fan.

Infrastructure as Code: Theory and Concepts

Information Systems Engineering & Operations Personnel can realize Scalability and Consistency by leveraging Infrastructure as Code.  This presentation will dive into the Theory of Infrastructure as Code and the Concepts on effective use.  A pathway to CI/CD, and eventually DevOps, will be shown.
